Soundscape for Milhous
18.5 minute audio loop. 2012
This soundscape is cut from the more than 4,000 hours of recorded audio of the Nixon White House. While deprivileging the more sensational components of the archive, this work pays careful attention to the sonic qualities of silence and the limits of perceptibility in this historic/ technological artifact. The piece’s run time of 18.5 minutes corresponds to the notorious erasure on one of the reels submitted to the FBI.
